Athletics

The College students partake in various Track and Fields Athletics such as marathon, track events, short put, javelin, high jump, long jump, triple jump and discuss. It is in season during first term. It arouses a lot of competition among the students, especially during inter-house competitions.

Basketball

Basketball is one of the most successful sports at the College. Over the years, the school's basketball team has seen some of its star players go on to represent the nation. The team also participates in various tournaments and is in season during the first and third term.

Rugby (The Hounds)

Rugby is one of the most revered sports at the College. The rugby team calls itself the ‘Hounds’ and it participates in the annual Mwana Group Rugby Festival. During the 2023 rugby season, the Hounds made history as they went through the entire season undefeated. Rugby is in season during the second term.

Tennis

We believe tennis is more than just a sport—it’s a game of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. The College's tennis program welcomes players of all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes, providing top-notch coaching and excellent facilities.

Soccer (The Leopards)

Soccer is one of the oldest and most popular sport not only at the school, but in the world at large. It usually captivates a large audience when it is in season during the second and third term at the College. The College's soccer teams are affectionately known as the ‘Leopards’.

Field Hockey

Field hockey at the College is an exciting and fast-paced sport that builds teamwork, endurance, and strategic thinking. Students at St Ignatius College take part in field hockey which is played on natural grass.

Swimming (The Seals)

A water-based sport, swimming exercises the whole body. It is in season during first and third term. The College's swimming team (the Seals), participates in several league gala's against other teams where it consistently outperforms the competition.

Cricket

Cricket at St Ignatius College is a sport of skill, strategy, and teamwork, offering students the chance to develop their technique and passion for the game.

Volleyball (The Jumpers)

The school volleyball team known as the ‘Jumpers’ have made the school proud from time immemorial. The jumpers have achieved great success and recognition nationwide. In 2012, they qualified to represent Zimbabwe in Burkina Faso after assuming the position of national champion. Volleyball is in season during the second and third term.
